The Top Things Making Me Grumpy Today

1.  Oliver on Project Runway.  I really can't tolerate the fake accent any longer.  I've put up with it for like 6 episodes already.  Get it off my tv!

2.  The fact that we haven't gone to the post office in like 2 weeks, and there was a nasty note in the mailbox when I went today saying I had to call a main office number to get my mail.  I'm afraid to call it because I don't want them to yell at me for not emptying my mailbox regularly.  I might make J, but I'm grumpy with him tonight, too.

3.   My inbox in general and Groupon in particular.  Listen Groupon, you were cool 18 months or so ago when I first found you, and you didn't spam me thirteen times a day.  Can't you, you know, ask me some survey questions to find out that I'm really not going to be interested in a chemical peal in Redondo Beach for 60% off?  I'd take the survey to get targeted emails from you.  I really would.  But I'm pretty much on the verge of marking you spam for now, cuz of all this crap you send me.  And now google's getting in on it.  If I have to listen to one more ad for Google Deals on my Pandora station, I'm going to knock somebody's head off.

4.  Fresh and Easy.  I love you F&E, I really do.  When I heard that Tesco's in the UK was going to do a US store, I got really excited.  And now that you sell McVities chocolate biscuits and Hobnobs, I'm even more of a fan.  But this thing you do of not completely sealing the chicken in the plastic wrap, so that even though the date says Sept 7, it goes bad early because it's been getting air all weekend...that has just got to go.  Could you try to be less ghetto in your meat packaging, please?

5.  Barack Obama.  Google "Obama + Cave".  Or, if you're a liberal like me, don't.  It will just get your blood pressure going.  I'm donating money to Stephen Colbert's ColbertPAC this year because I can't tolerate giving Obama any more money for him to just use to, you know, destroy EPA regulations and refuse to raise taxes on the wealthy.  Hillary Clinton's 3AM Phone Call ad is sadly starting to ring true.

Three Day Weekends are fun, but I'm just feeling grumpy now.

Project Runway, and days of the week I love

One of my favorite things in the world is Project Runway.  It's got drama, but not stupid Survivor drama.  Not that I know what Survivor-Drama is since I've never watched it, but I think it has a lot to do with people plotting which teammate to throw out, and maybe people sleeping with each other in the jungle.  Project Runway has drama where people (to steal this year's most-used phrase) "throw each other under the bus" and talk crap about their designs, but there's not a lot of drunk people accidentally sleeping with their sister's boyfriend like there is on The Real World and other pseudo-reality shows that I've watched.  Plus Runway has awesome clothes.  If not the ones made by the designers, at least the ones that Heidi wears, and there are lush fabrics, and bright colors, and lots of creativity.

So Thursday is my new favorite day.  Over the summer my favorite day was Wednesday because that's when each new week of my pregnancy starts (week 18 starts today, for example.  Hip Hip Hooray!).  But now my new favorite day is Thursday, closely followed by Monday, because that's when Dating in the Dark is on, and I'm ashamed to admit how much I love DITD (note: I first saw DITD in England - it's a British import - at Sandor's house.  And he said he thought it was an interesting sociological experiment.  So now that's the term I'm using now to describe why I like it).

My next favorite day is Tuesday, because that's when the Una LaMarche episode recaps of Runway come out on the Huffington Post.  I love her recaps almost as much as I love the show itself.  She's sassy and funny and I have a total girl-crush on her.  I especially love how she hates on Gretchen and Ivy, because I think they both seem pretty b*tchy.

Anyway, in other news, Baby T is beginning to poo this week.  Now I not only have a baby growing inside of me, but a baby growing and pooping inside of me.  Joy!

11 weeks and 2 days...

Not like I'm counting down to the end of this first trimester or anything like that...

Here are some things that are making me happy right now:

1) The autumn stuff is making an appearance at Target, which makes me happy because that means that autumn is coming, with cooler weather and a chance to wear some of the fall maternity clothes I bought today.

2) It's Friday, which means that I can hopefully catch up on some sleep. I'm finding it impossible to get comfortable recently. Between getting up to pee every 20 minutes and not being able to lay on my belly anymore, it's really seriously sucking.

3) Mom visited all week and we had fun. She's in grandma mode and we looked at strollers and cribs, hung out at the lake, and went to see Despicable Me in 3D, which I highly recommend.

4) Jason Mraz. Just because.

5) I started a blog where I will write all my letters to Baby. I've been keeping a journal of letters to him/her for a couple of weeks now, but this is quicker and my hand doesn't get as tired. So I'll do both.

6) There are new bags at Target, and new bags make me happy.

7) I finally finished the first episode of Project Runway - I feel like it's back - last season was lackluster for me, but this year, it's going to rock. I'm bummed that the mom from Utah had to go home - I liked her dress! - but that flower bag was pretty bad paired with it. I really wanted the guy wearing the derby hat to go home too - I just find him generally annoying. I hope we get time to watch the second episode this weekend. We're also a week behind on So You Think You Can Dance, and that stinks, too. Sometimes I hate being busy. There are like two shows I love to watch, and I'm so behind on them both.

New Year's Resolution: Check-in

It's early February now, and I thought I'd do a spot-check on my New Years Resolutions:

1. Listening to new music... I've definitely been doing this.
2. working out five times a week... this too, which is going more easily now thanks to my audiobooks.
3. cutting back on sugar... I feel like I've been doing this, but I should quantify it somehow.
4. drinking more water... definitely doing this.
5. going to one museum a month... did it in January.
6. finding a church for spirituality and friends... haven't done this yet. There's a Unitarian church down the hill I'd like to check out. Maybe this Sunday.
7. finding a choir or starting one... I did find one, but it's mid-term now and I can't join until September. That wouldn't be so bad if it's what it came to, but I'm holding out hope I can find something else.
8. reading at least one "smart" book a month... does listening to a book count? Otherwise, no.
9. journaling and meditating daily... not every day, but pretty good. Plus I started yoga.
10. playing the piano a few times a week... haven't done this, but I did have a lovely time playing the fiddle a couple weeks ago. Must do that.

So I'm doing ok, huh? Need to find church, sing, and play piano and violin more. Everything else is on track. That's good to know. I am going to check in like this once a month.

I would also add to it that I should write more. Every day. 500 words. No excuses. It's like a muscle, right. The more you do it, the better it becomes.

Ok, so that's my check in.

A friend of mine just had another baby. Babies everywhere! Why won't people stop having babies already?!? Sheesh. Like I didn't have enough pressure already. Ick. Babies. Pregnancy. Who needs it. (Grandparents and husbands, I suppose)

And when is Project Runway coming back?!?! I'm totally missing it. I know, there's legal problems. I'm watching the canadian version on youtube till it comes back. I miss that cute Heidi and Tim.
